Another of a talented quartet of NZU21 players to be included in their mix, shooter Sarah Guiney has earned her first fulltime contract and makes the move from Wellington to play for the Magic in 2026. From training partner with Manawa (Netball Central) in 2023, Guiney made a seamless transition to gaining starting status in 2024 and 2025 where she was an influential presence in the NNL’s most successful team. A strong athlete who more than holds her own in general play while chiming in with good accuracy under the hoop, Guiney was a member of the New Zealand Secondary Schools team in 2023 while in her final year at Samuel Marsden Collegiate School in Wellington. That led to inclusion in the NZ U21 squad, and with it the carrot of taking part in in the 2025 World Youth Cup in Gibraltar which she achieved, the team going on to win the silver medal.
