Losa Fifita profile

Losa Fifita

Following in her sister’s footsteps, rising young defender Losa Fifita has gained her first full contract in 2026 where she will line up with the Magic. Sister Taneisha made her mark with the Southern Steel, both also played for the NZ Secondary Schools’ team while Losa was selected from outside the programme to be named in the NZU 21 team for the 2025 World Youth Cup where they won the silver medal. The Fifita sisters were born in Tonga and spent five years in Japan when their father, Tevita Fifita, secured a rugby playing contract there. He had earlier played for the Tongan national rugby team. After living in Japan, the family moved to New Zealand, and at the start of 2020, shifted from Oamaru to Invercargill to support Taneisha with her netball. That rubbed off on Losa, where she was involved with the Southern Blast and as a training partner for the Steel. She has since moved north and was part of the 2025 Comets NNL team. A huge natural talent with a great training ethic, Fifita continued to impress with her performances throughout the 2025 season and now gets her opportunity at the elite level.
