A training partner last year, defender Brooklyn Murray was elevated to fully-contracted Magic player for 2026 after a serious knee injury ruled Kaiya Kepa out for the season. Tauranga’s Murray was a member of last year’s NZ U21 squad while also being a strong contributor for Waikato Bay of Plenty in the NNL. A rangy defender, with a nose for the intercept, Murray has traditionally filled the in-circle defence roles but can also slide into wing defence when required, adding depth and flexibility in the back third of the court. Murray has worked hard in the background, embraced feed-back and diligently improved her fitness standards to earn her opportunity at the top level.
