Earlier today Netball New Zealand announced the 2018/19 Silver Ferns squad, along with the team to compete in next month’s Netball Quad Series.
This is a special selection for the WBOP Magic wider family, as we see the return of our Captain Casey Kopua into the international scene. The last time Casey stepped onto the international court was back in 2015.Along with Casey, we see the selection of WBOP Magic’s midcourter Samantha Sinclair, and talented defender Kelly Jury.
Samantha Sinclair said that she has had a challenging year but feels she has grown immensely.
“I'm really stoked to be named again. It's been a challenging year but I feel I've grown immensely during the course of the domestic Premiership with the Magic, and I'm ready to launch back into the international season” says Sinclair.
“I’m really looking forward to the quad series and particularly working with some new teammates who I haven't played with before. Can't wait” added Sinclair.

The WBOP Magic selections didn’t stop there, we saw Monica Faulkner and Kate Lloyd being selected into the 2018/19 Silver Ferns Development Squad. Monica has also been selected for the New Zealand A Team, and the Fast5 Ferns Team which is set to play in Melbourne this October.
WBOP Magic & Netball Waikato Bay of Plenty CEO Rohan West said, everyone in the WBOP Magic whanau sends their congratulations to all our players who have been named in the New Zealand squads today.
“It’s always a great sense of pride for the organisation when we have our players named in national representative teams, and it’s an even better feeling today when our captain and legend of the sport, Casey Kopua, is in the squad after making herself available,” says West
“Obviously, it’s a great reward for our key players of Sam Sinclair, Kelly Jury and Monica Falkner to make the squads, but Kate Lloyd’s inclusion in the Development Squad is a terrific achievement after being thrust into a starting position so early in our ANZ Premiership campaign,” added West.
