Splice Construction Waikato Bay of Plenty Magic is pleased to announce that Simmon Howe has signed a Standard Player Contract and will stay with the squad as an Additional Player for the rest of the 2019 ANZ Premiership season.

As a Splice Construction Magic Training Partner since the start of the 2019 pre-season, Simmon has been part of the greater Magic squad since November 2018 and made her ANZ Premiership debut in the first game of the season against The Good Oil Mainland Tactix.

Although being handed the starting Wing Attack bib on the first Super Sunday may have surprised a few in Netball circles, Simmon’s performance in the 2018 Beko Netball League gave an indication of her ability.

Named BNL Player of the Tournament last year, Simmon has accelerated her development, and has stepped up for Splice Construction Magic this season.

As with Lisa Mather in 2018, Simmon’s rapid accent from Beko squad, to Magic Training Partner, to Interim Replacement Player, now to a fully contracted player has been a text book story of progression through the Talent Pathway.

Splice Construction Magic Head Coach, Amigene Metcalfe was thrilled to have Simmon as an official addition to the team.

“Mons proved in the early rounds of this competition that she could compete and add value to our side both on and off the court”, Metcalfe said.

“We’re very excited to have her fully contracted and it is great reward for her efforts and hard work within the zone pathway system in the past few years.”
