A new study conducted by Mānuka Performance in collaboration with players from AVIS Magic is investigating the potential benefits of honey and probiotics on mood, anxiety, and sleep outcomes in female athletes.

With increasing interest in natural and functional nutrition for performance and recovery, this exploratory research aims to determine whether supplementation with honey and probiotics can provide measurable improvements in cognitive function, emotional well-being, and rest quality among high-performing athletes.

“This study represents an exciting step in understanding how natural supplementation can support both the mental and physical aspects of athletic performance,” says Tristan Vine, CEO & Co-founder at Mānuka Performance. “Honey is known for its bioactive properties, and probiotics play a crucial role in gut health. Together, they may offer a unique synergy that enhances overall well-being.”

The research focuses on female athletes, an underrepresented group in sports nutrition studies, and seeks to provide insights that could inform future dietary strategies for improved recovery and resilience.

Mānuka Performance has long been dedicated to harnessing the power of nature to support peak human performance, integrating sustainability and science-backed innovation in their approach.

The findings of the study are expected to be published later this year, offering valuable data on the interplay between nutrition, mental health, and sleep quality in elite athletes.
