Combining her love for netball and her successful fashion house Augustine, Kelly Coe, is proud to be in partnership with the AVIS Magic management team, dressing them on game day.
“I used to want to be a Silver Fern but now I dress Silver Ferns!” laughs Coe.
Augustine has been in partnership with the Silver Ferns for several years. What flowed on was a relationship with the AVIS Magic netball team as she is originally from the region, growing up in Tauranga.
The fashion designer has an extra bond to the Magic as head coach Mary-Jane Araroa (MJ) coached Coe when she played for the Bay of Plenty NPC team.
“MJ coached me in 2010 and she was just so great. I love the way she coaches and how her ethos around a team is.”
“I also love that she loves wearing Augustine and it’s so special to me that the management are wearing our clothes.”
Back when Araroa was coaching Coe, she remembers being unusually breathless during the lead up and throughout the national provincial tournament.
“I just wasn’t playing my best netball and then I found out that I was actually pregnant with our first daughter.”
Choosing to support a sport with strong role models Coe says is part of the alignment for Augustine to partner with the AVIS Magic.
Her love for netball started when she first played aged nine and continues today as she plays premier netball for her local club.
“I try and bring my three daughters to the ANZ games because it’s great for them to watch and see these women out there on court going for it,” says Coe who helps coach her daughters’ teams.
As the Magic management are dressed to impress in Augustine on game day Coe smiles with pride on a full circle moment and her continued connection to the game she loves.
