Netball fans in Rotorua are in for a treat as Avis Magic take on the Stars in a highly anticipated pre-season clash on Friday 4 April at the Rotorua Energy Events Centre. With centre pass at 6.30pm, this match will be the perfect opportunity for netball supporters to see both teams in action ahead of the 2025 ANZ Premiership season.
This opportunity has been brought to life through significant local support, headlined by a key partnership with Profiles Gyms, who are also announced today as an official partner of Magic for the 2025 season. Additional support for the event comes from Rotorua Lakes Council, Red Stag, Rotorua Trust, Millennium Hotels and the Rotorua Netball Centre.
The excitement continues Saturday, when both teams take part in a special community day. Invited young netballers aged 7-16 get the chance to join a skills session, Q&A, and signing opportunity with the players from both Magic & Stars.
Magic is making a special trip to Rotorua to ensure the team stays connected with the region despite not having an in-season game there this year. Head coach Mary-Jane Araroa emphasises the importance of engaging with the community and giving local fans the chance to see their team in action.
“We know how passionate Rotorua is about netball and about Magic, and we wanted to create this opportunity to engage with our supporters here,” says Araroa. “This game, and the community event that follow, are about celebrating netball and bringing our fans closer to the team.”
