Lenny is back! The Waikato Bay of Plenty Magic are pleased to confirm star shooter, Lenize Potgieter, is back in the squad to play Ascot Park Hotel Southern Steel on Wednesday 16 May.
After sustaining an ankle injury in the first week of the pre-season, Potgieter has been diligent in her rehab and training, and is now looking forward to her 2018 ANZ Premiership debut.
After Magic team training last week, Potgieter said, “I can’t wait to get on court. I feel great and my shooting is really solid. I’m ready to go.”
The Magic will need Potgieter on top form as they look to bounce back from an opening round Super Sunday loss to Te Wānanga O Raukawa Pulse. An excellent defensive effort, led by Casey Kopua, Kelly Jury and Hayley Saunders, limited the ANZ Premiership pace setters to only 45 goals, but the team wasn’t able to capitalise at the offensive end of the court.
Two other injuries to the Magic squad haven’t cleared so Magic Training Partners Lisa Mather and Harley Smith stay in the travelling squad.
The Magic squad for Round 2:
Casey Kopua (Captain)
Sam Sinclair (Vice-Captain)
Ariana Cable-Dixon
Monica Falkner
Kelly Jury
Amorangi Malesala
Lisa Mather
Lenize Potgieter
Hayley Saunders
Harley Smith
