New Zealand Secondary Schools (NZSS), NZU21 and NZA defender Michaela Sokolich-Beatson has been named in the Kia Waikato Bay of Plenty Magic team as a training partner for the 2015 ANZ Championship season.

Sokolich-Beatson is talented young player out of Whangaparaoa College and has been playing representative Netball since 2008, most recently as part of the NZSS team which won the International Schoolgirls Challenge in Adelaide earlier this year. She was also in the NZA team which beat England in a closed match following their tour of New Zealand in October.

“We are excited to complete our 2015 group with the inclusion of Michaela as a training partner.  She’s is a versatile defender and equally comfortable on the wing as in the goal circle,” she said.

“We’ve had our eye on her for a while with her skill, attitude and athleticism and we believe she has a great skills base to build on.”

Sokolich-Beatson has played most of her representative Netball for Netball North Harbour and received the Player of the Year award in 2013. She is an outstanding overall athlete having won Senior Sportswoman of the Year Awards for three years running at Whangaparaoa College and named Athletic Champion from 2009-2014.
