Composure and Freedom keys for Semi-Final

Cold Power Magic captain Leana de Bruin says that composure and freedom will be keys to success against the NSW Swifts in Monday night's ANZ Championship Semi-Final.

"The message I'll be pushing to our girls on Monday night is composure," says de Bruin.

"It's a Semi-Final and they're a quality team so things will be tight and the pressure will be on, but we need to stay composed and especially in the moments that don't go so well for us.

"Putting the fact that it's a Semi-Final to the back of our minds and playing with freedom, will be important too.

"We've played with a 'nothing to lose' attitude the last couple of games and played with freedom and had fun, so that formula is working well."

After a very challenging start to the season that was hampered by injuries to key players, including Leana de Bruin, the Cold Power Magic have won eight of their last ten games to peak at the right time of the season.

"I'm really proud of the team and how we stuck together during that tough beginning (to the season).

"We stayed tight and the results started to come and look where we are now.

"We don't want it to stop just yet either so we'll be giving it everything we've got on Monday."

The Cold Power Magic host the NSW Swifts at Claudelands Arena, Hamilton in the second ANZ Championship Semi-Final on Monday, 25 July at 7:30pm.  Get along to support the Magic - tickets are available through Ticketek.
