The Waikato Bay of Plenty AVIS Magic have confirmed their 2026 ANZ Premiership line-up, with fans set to see a familiar and exciting squad take the court next season.
Magic have retained the core of their 2025 squad, underlining confidence in the group and belief in the direction the team is heading.
“Keeping the bulk of our squad together is a real strength heading into the season” says Head Coach Mary-Jane Araroa. “It gives us continuity, combinations, and trust in each other, which is such an advantage when other teams are starting over. At the same time, we’ve added in two emerging talents who bring real energy and future promise.”
Those additions come in the form of current New Zealand Under 21 representatives, Losa Fifita and Sarah Guiney.
“Our U21 athletes have shown they can perform against the best in their age group,” says Araroa. “Losa’s physical presence and defensive intensity are exciting, while Sarah’s accuracy and calm head under pressure will add great depth. They’re the type of players we want to nurture and grow inside our Magic environment.”
The returning backbone of the side includes Erena Mikaere, Georgie Edgecombe, Silver Ferns shooter Saviour Tui, experienced midcourters Ariana Cable-Dixon and Ali Wilshier, and defender Oceane Maihi. Rising stars Kate Taylor and Kaiya Kepa also return after impactful seasons in 2025.
“Having this mix of experience, leadership, and youth makes for a balanced and hungry squad,” says Araroa. “We know our fans love seeing homegrown talent take the court, and this team represents the future of Magic netball.”
With stability, fresh looking talent, and a belief in their style of play, AVIS Magic are aiming to rise up the ANZ Premiership ladder in 2026.
