The Waikato Bay of Plenty Avis Magic have confirmed Brooklyn Murray as a newly contracted player, following an injury to Kaiya Kepa.

Murray has been elevated as a contracted player as the team continues preparations for the upcoming season, adding depth and flexibility across the court.

Magic Head Coach Mary-Jane Araroa said Murray had earned her opportunity through her commitment in showing significant improvement in her fitness levels and positive attitude within the environment.

“Brooklyn has shown she’s ready to take the next step. She’s worked hard, embraced feedback, and brings a lot of energy to the group.”

“Kaiya has been an important part of our team and has contributed significantly. She’s handled this setback with real professionalism, and we’re committed to supporting her through her rehabilitation.”

Murray said being offered a Magic contract was a moment she would never forget.

“It’s an incredible honour to be contracted to Avis Magic. I’m thankful for the trust placed in me and for the opportunity to be part of a high-performance environment. I’m excited to work hard, continue developing my game, and contribute to the team in any way I can.”

The Magic will continue to wrap support around Kepa as she works towards returning to play.
