AVIS Magic are pleased to announce the appointment of Justine Dixon as their new General Manager.
Dixon takes over from Waikato Bay of Plenty sports stalwart Gary Dawson who took on the position in an interim role in 2022 and will move into the role of AVIS Magic Management Committee member.
With 20 years of commercial finance and sales experience, all in the Waikato region, Dixon said she was looking forward to joining the Magic whānau and building relationships with key stakeholders as well as engaging with grassroots netball and the fans who stand behind the team.
“This role really is about the people – whether it’s our team, our stakeholders or our fans at grassroots level – which is something I thrive on. I love this region and I’m thrilled to be joining a franchise with such a rich history and with many legends of the game who have worn the Magic colours,” Dixon said.
“This is an exciting opportunity to help the club build into a new era and I can’t wait to get started.”
Dixon has been the General Manager of Mediaworks Waikato since 2021 having worked for the company for over 17 years in various roles including Senior Financial Accountant and Product Manager.
Dawson said AVIS Magic were delighted to welcome Dixon on board in the role as General Manager and were looking forward to welcoming her to the club.
“Justine brings a wealth of management experience to the role but just as importantly she knows our region so well which is key,” he said.
“We have been incredibly proud of how the Magic have represented our region on and off the court this year and our goal now is to build again on those successes.”
